Boiled Spiced Blue Crabs

This blue crab recipe call for boiling crabs in a marinade. The spices are boiled first, then blue crabs are added and boiled until ready for serving.
  • 24 live, hard shell blue crabs
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 3 tablespoons cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup celery salt
  • 1/4 cup powdered mustard
  • 1/4 cup cloves
  • 2 tablespoons mace
  • 2 tablespoons ginger
  • 6 quarts boiling water
  1. Add seasonings to the boiling water.
  2. Cover and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Add crabs, cover and return to boiling point.
  4. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Drain.
  6. Serve hot or cold.
