Deep-Fat Fried Clams

Frying clams in hot oil is the fastest way to cook them.
Ingredients
  • 1 quart clams
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Dash pepper
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
Instructions
  1. Drain clams.
  2. Combine egg, milk and seasonings.
  3. Dip clams in egg mixture and roll in crumbs.
  4. Fry in a basket in deep fat, 375° F, for 2 to 3 minutes or until brown.
  5. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Serve plain or with a sauce.
